Who We Are
The Tanzania Tennis Association (TTA) is a non-profit organisation and the national sporting body for tennis in Tanzania, recognised by both World Tennis (WT) and the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT). TTA currently has more than 30 affiliated member clubs across the country.
Our responsibility is to create development programs at every level in an effort to continuously improve the standards of tennis in the country. TTA organises and participates in local and international tournaments such as the Davis Cup, Billie Jean Cup, senior events and junior tournaments including the Africa Junior Championships and ITF Junior Circuits, and endorses players to participate in individual events the world over.
To promote the development and popularity of tennis across the country.

The Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) is a programme supported by the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The aim of the JTI program is to increase the number of people playing tennis in the entire world. Our JTI program targets 6–12-year-old children in primary schools to identify their talent.
The main target of this initiative is to promote more involvement of children (boys and girls) into playing tennis in Tanzania and encourage more parents to involve their children in the sport. The program aims to ensure that young people get a chance to have more fun, be independent — as it is an independent sport — and discipline the young kids.
The High Performance Programme is a comprehensive training program for different age categories such as U12, U14, U16 and U18 that combines competitions at local, national and international level, as well as regular training managed by our coaches. TTA is privileged to have this program in six regions: Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Morogoro, Pwani and Zanzibar.
The aim of our High-Performance Program is to provide a high-level training environment for junior players who wish to train more intensely and more frequently in order to maximise their tennis potential — developing their playing standards, improving their ranking, or daring to play at the highest level.
TTA is dedicated to attracting players with athletic potential to wheelchair athletes of all ages and backgrounds. The goal, above all else, is for the athletes to learn the sport of tennis and have fun.
Wheelchair tennis provides transformative experiences for players and acknowledges the fundamental characteristics required to play tennis, including chair and mobility skills, racket skills, shot selection and competitiveness. The program is delivered by experienced coaches who train players to improve physical, mental and social wellbeing, and individual development.
Aside from the players, the Chair Umpire is the most important person on court during a match. The Chair Umpire has enormous responsibility — calling the score, enforcing the rules and managing the players. A successful Chair Umpire needs great communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure. TTA facilitates coaching certification courses and officiating courses to produce more certified coaches and officials.
